Cloud Fish Necklace, copper, pure silver, sterling, hand cut labrodorite, pearl.

This one was a conceptual piece, which started with the stone. This labradorite has such a clear opalescence but yet has a pond water look with all of the inclusions. The angle of refraction was off as well. It seemed to have two planes of refraction of the labradorite schiller. I cut this one from boulder to finished product, which wore my lapidary equipment out after I cut and carved the slab and eye for the fish. It is a very hard stone.

The fish was hand fabricated, carved, and chased. The stone is fixed into the splash under the fish by a bolt that I tap and dyed from scrap copper. I then applied a homemade patina by soaking the piece in warm salt water, and then fumed with ammonia on a hotplate under a container. This gives the copper parts a swampy green color.

The cloud/pond side is all hand carved. and attratched with a rivet that the pearl is connected to, a handmade heart shaped bolt, and a round copper bolt that I made.

The hook is all hand forged as well. I was going for a set of colors ranging from the red patina'd copper, with flashes of green, and the spooky, magical blue/green stones. It is connected to a hand drawn piece of Viking weave with hand made caps.
